Mata Sharbani Trust
Annual Report (2006-2007)
Mata Sharbani Trust is centered around the supreme spiritual realization and universal principles of the holy Mother, Sree Sree Maa, Chairperson of the Trust. Other than general activities of relief, medical aid and educational aid to the needy, an important goal of the Trust is to foster, promote and strengthen the spiritual and cultural heritage of India and spread the message of oneness amongst all.
The publication of books that carry the message of unified spiritual Truth is a primary mechanism for this dissemination. These publications are of various kinds ranging from essays on spiritual and other themes of relevance, lives and teachings of great savants and collection of conversations of Sree Sree Maa. In order to ensure that the message spreads far and wide many of the original Bengali publications are translated into Hindi and this year the first English translation has also been released. This year, seven books have been published. These include Kriya Yoga – The Eternal Science Part I in English, Mahatmao Ka Sannidhya in Hindi and five Bangali books, namely Prakash Part III, Brahmanjali Part IV, Jagriti, Sree Sree Sannyasi Ma and Brihat Kishori Bhagwat. These books have been warmly received.
The Trust runs a library where contains many rare books on Indology and spiritual topics. These books have been painstakingly collected by Sree Sree Maa and other devotees. This library now has many regular subscribers.
Mahatmas at Akhanda
In order to initiate the activities of the Trust in other parts of the country, a beginning has been made by taking a small flat in the city of Varanasi where the activities of the Trust will be carried out. A special visit was made by Sree Sree Maa to Varanasi for inaugurating the Varanasi premises. During this visit, Sree Sree Maa also visited other Ashrams and met with some eminent personalities. They include Sri Narayan Baba, a disciple of Brahmarshi Devraha Baba in Devraha Baba’s Ashram near Vindhyachal and Swami Sachchidananda Saraswati (earstwhile Mahamandaleshwar of Bholagiri Ashram) at Kalikananda Vedanta Ashram in Varanasi. She also paid a visit to Sri Vasudev Tyagi-ji’s Tapoban Ashram at Nakki Ghat, Varanasi. Sree Sree Maa also traveled for a day to Pushkar in Rajasthan on the personal request of the reclusive saint, Alwar Baba of Anand Ashram at Pushkar. A divine satsang was held in the meeting of two great personalities.
Another important on-going activity is the building of the Self-Realization Centre-cum-Cultural Complex within the Akhanda Mahapeeth Ashram premises. This, on completion, is expected to be a centre for spreading the universal message of self-realization that has been propounded by almost all great saints as well as Sree Sree Maa from their own realizations. The construction of this is going on phase by phase at a steady pace depending on the availability of funds. In addition, due to the high damp atmosphere in Shibrampur and the water-logging during the monsoon season, special water-proofing treatment needs to be done. Some parts of that work were taken up this year and some more will be considered in the subsequent years. Some electrical work on the basement and lightning protection work including earthing were carried out. Some parts of the marble work and construction of a small open podium that will be used for several purposes have been completed. Several repair works of the Ashram building and its premises have been carried out since the number of people visiting the Ashram is increasing day by day. A small piece of 2 kathas of land just outside the trust premises have also been purchased for future activities.
Three permanent residents of Akhanda Mahapeeth (Trust premises) namely Shri Dipak Roy, Shri Joydeb Das and Smt. Lata Das were initiated into sannyas or monkhood by Sree Sree Maa in a solemn ceremony at dawn on 14.01.2007. This initiation was performed in the presence of Sri Gobindadas Udasi, Mohant Maharaj of Banga Udasi Math and Sri Jagadananda Udasi. The three monks would henceforth be known as Swami Sadasivananda, Swami Prabodhananda and Saddhvi Sanyuktanandamoyee respectively in their sannyas life. They will dedicate their life to the service of the principles of Sree Sree Maa and the Trust.
The Trust also offers aid including relief, medical and educational aid to various needy people either on individual basis or through other organizations. Several individual needy persons were provided with medical and educational support, partially or fully. One organization through which this Trust offered its aid is the Sarada-Ramakrishna Mahila O Shishu Sevasharam, an orphanage cum residential school in the village of Hotor on the outskirts of the city of Kolkata. This ashram is run by a set of devoted people who have dedicated all their lives for the cause of homeless and poor children, especially girls. This year food and clothing were distributed among the 150 children of the Hotor ashram. Four women who had grown up in the Hotor Ashram and had decided to devote rest of their lives for the service of the needy were initiated into Brahmacharya Diksha by Sree Sree Maa on their request and on request from the Hotor Ashram head. Sree Sree Maa also made a special visit to Hotor much to the delight of the residents. Many people including some sadhus were provided medical and nursing treatment by volunteer doctors associated with the Trust. These include Govinda-das-ji of Banga Udasi Math, a ninety-five year old sadhu. The Trust also provides guidance to other sister organizations like Yoga Cure Institute, where traditional forms of physical yoga are taught, the People’s Forum for Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, which is spreading the spiritual, social, cultural and people’s movement that Lord Chaitanya initiated across the country, and is in touch with similar organizations like Saccidananda Society, Bharat Sevashram Sangha and others.
